Shooting and kidnapping occurred after an altercation outside a paediatric centre, police told
A mother has been killed and her newborn son abducted outside a paediatric centre in suburban Houston, according to investigators.
Montgomery County sheriff's officials said the mother was returning to her pickup truck in the town of Spring, just outside Houston, on Tuesday after going for a checkup with her three-day-old son when she became involved in a verbal altercation with a woman in a Lexus parked nearby.
Lt Dan Norris said the woman repeatedly shot at the mother, took her infant and sped away. He says the dying mother tried to reach into the Lexus, but it hit her.
Witnesses reported hearing as many as seven gunshots and some accounts said there was also a man in the Lexus. Norris said the driver's side of the Lexus was bloodstained when last seen.
The infant was wearing a one-piece green and white outfit emblazoned with a logo saying "handsome".
